I received new Clarins Joli blushes for review a while ago. As I am a blush freak, I was really excited about these. That turned into a confusion when I opened these. Some of the shades look pretty strange in the pan. I have six of the eight shades. Unfortunately the one I was very interested 06 cheeky coral was not among the ones I got. I also missed 08 cheeky mocha, but that I wouldn't use anyway.
The packaging is beautiful and I love the bright colors on top of the package. That said, the colors don't always match with the shade of the blush in a pan. It is more accurate to the actual shade on skin though.
You do get a brush with each of these blushes, which make them great ones for traveling. And there is a good mirror as well. First thing I noticed when swatched for the first time is, that these do not swatch well. Of the six I have, 03 cheeky rose and 02 cheeky pink are the ones that give most pigment. When you swatch 07 cheeky peach and 05 cheeky boum you hardly get any pigment. 07 cheeky peach is just so hard pressed that it takes quite some effort to swatch but when you apply it with blush, you get better results. 05 cheeky boum is more a blush topper/highlighter. It does have some apricot color but it has more shimmer than the others. None of these is fully matte, but they are quite close to it.
I have used all of these 2-3 times and I like these surprisingly much. It's mainly because they have actually really unique shades. As a collector I often have to admit that I have pretty much every shade possible, but these give you something else. They are shades that might scare off some potential users but don't be afraid of the strangeness. If you want something else than regular pinks and peaches, these are worth checking out.
